SEO Basics Check For Your Homepage
See whether the page search engines read first has the basics in place — and what to add if it does not.
Free, no account. Passive checks only — the same requests a browser or DNS lookup makes.
What This Checks
- A page title of a sensible length, and a meta description
- Exactly one main heading (h1), a canonical link, a language attribute and a viewport tag
- Whether the homepage tells search engines not to index it (meta tag or header)
- Whether robots.txt is reachable and whether it blocks every crawler
- Whether a sitemap is listed in robots.txt or published at /sitemap.xml
Why It Matters
These are the cheapest search fixes there are: a few lines in the page head. They are also easy to lose — a staging-site noindex or a blanket robots.txt block copied into production can keep a live site out of search results without any visible error.
This reads your homepage as the server delivers it, the same way a crawler does. It is a basic check of page hygiene, not a ranking prediction.
Check Every Deploy, Not Just Today
Every ZipLoom deploy runs a dependency vulnerability audit and a live check of your headers, TLS and DNS — and ZipLoom can scan your source code on demand or on every commit.
